How Can I Tell EasyWater is Working?

One of the wonderful things about using EasyWater is that it does not chemically change your water at all, and all of the minerals that are naturally present in your water will continue to be in your water.

Since EasyWater does not work by removing minerals from water, you will not be able to use standard water testing kits that test for water hardness pre- and post- treatment. Your water will usually measure exactly the same after treatment with EasyWater as it did before treatment!  Rather than measure the results given by EasyWater based on the color of a strip of paper, it’s best to measure how well EasyWater works by noticing the results around your home. After all, results are the most important reason to treat your water.  This checklist will help guide you through how to tell that EasyWater is working and doing its job.

Immediately After Installation

Lights on the Unit

When EasyWater is correctly installed, two lights will illuminate on the front of the system. One will say “power”, and the other will say “descaling”. If you get a red or flashing “overload” light, check out page 7 of your owner’s manual for troubleshooting tips.

Skin and Hair

Many customers like this one report to us that they can tell a difference in the feel of the water immediately after installation of EasyWater.   This result will be entirely subjective, based on several factors including the hardness of your water, your prior water treatment history, and what you consider to be a ‘nice’ feeling. Please note, we do not expect you to experience a difference in the feel of the water right away, but consider it a nice bonus.

During the Descaling Period

Your water might test harder

Depending on the hardness of your water and the age of your home, it can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months before your pipes and plumbing are completely descaled. During this period, you might notice that your water feels harder, or that you have more water spotting on surfaces. If you do test your water during this period, it might test much harder than it normally does as well. You can read about one customer’s experience here.

Faucet Aerators and Showerheads

EasyWater works best where water is flowing, but we don’t expect you to cut open your pipes to check on the results! There is a very simple way to check on the results you’re receiving from EasyWater. Simply unscrew your sink faucet aerators or showerheads and observe what happens to the existing build-up inside them. Take a picture before you start using EasyWater, and continue to check these areas at weeks 1, 2 and 3. For all homes but the most scale-heavy, the existing build-up should be completely gone by the 3-week point.

Water Heater

Keeping your water heater clean is actually the key to seeing full results in the fastest amount of time. Water heaters will collect large quantities of limescale build-up, and EasyWater will dissolve this build-up a little bit at a time. Taking the time to flush the loose scale minerals out of the bottom of your water heater will ensure that the treated water inside your tank will continue to work on the solid scale build-up still remaining. Once your water heater is free of build-up, the treated water can go to work on the undissolved scale in your pipes and plumbing, and the water-using appliances inside your home. Long-Term Results

Scale-free appliances

Dishwashers, washing machines, ice makers and water heaters will be more efficient and effective, and will last longer than appliances that use untreated water. Many of our customers have noticed a decrease in their energy bill as well. As scale is removed from heating elements and components in appliances, the increased efficiency leads to lower energy consumption.

Reduced soap and detergent usage

Depending on the hardness of your water and previous water treatment history, detergent and soap usage will decrease by about 25-40%.

Nicer Laundry

Whites will be whiter, brights will be brighter, and laundry will be softer out of the wash.

Easier Cleaning

While evaporative mineral spots will most likely still be visible, the spots that you do see will be much easier to wipe away. You’ll also notice that toilet rings will be much easier to clean.

I would like a price for an appropriate unit for my home. It is approximately 1500 sq. ft.

    Thank you.

Hi Jill, the best unit for your home will depend on several factors, including the quality of your water and the type and size of the plumbing in your home. It’s best to have a discussion with one of our residential specialists, who will ask simple but specific questions about your home in order to arrive at the best fit. If salt is not used and the chemicals are not changed in the water, how does it soften and provide pure tasting drinking water? What maintenance is required on the unit? How long should it last?

    • EasyWater June 28, 2011 at 10:42 am · Reply

Hi Barbara, you’ve asked a big question! A traditional salt-type water softener works by removing calcium and magnesium from water, and replacing those lost minerals with sodium. Instead of adding anything or removing the natural minerals from water, EasyWater physically changes those calcium and magnesium minerals, in order to keep them from building up and forming scale. In addition to the elimination of limescale, most customers notice other nice benefits as well, such as a nicer feeling water and a better lather on soaps. The EasyWater no-salt conditioner won’t change the taste of drinking water, but EasyWater treated water is much better tasting than water with added sodium from a traditional softener! One of the great things about the EasyWater no-salt conditioner is that there is no maintenance required at all. You can expect that it will last for at least 10+ years. For more details, please give us a call at 1(877) 708-3338. We’ll describe the treatment process more thoroughly, and based on your needs we’ll help determine if EasyWater will be a great fit for you!

After installing the Easy Water it worked well for about three months and now the overload light is flashing and we are beginning to get more scale build up. Above there is a statement – for troubleshooting “click here” but there is no link to click on. Can you offer any suggestions as to why the overload light is flashing?

    • EasyWater July 20, 2011 at 10:03 am · Reply

Hi Steve, thanks for letting us know about the problem. A flashing overload light after the unit has been installed for a period of time is usually one of three things: 1) A brief power outage can cause this and is corrected by unplugging the unit for two or three minutes and plugging it back in, 2) The connections between the leads from the unit and the signal wire wrap may have come loose. To fix this, you can request a new 3M wire clip from us, or simply use a wire nut from the hardware store, or 3) The unit is installed on a GFI circuit and there is a tripped GFI. This can be easily checked by plugging the unit in to a different outlet (an extension cord can be used if necessary.) If you’ve tried all of these things and you still have questions, you can reach us at 1(877) 708-3338 and request to speak with customer service.

i have a single story 20 yrs old home with 4 bedroom, 2 bath. i like to find out what size i will use. and what is the warranty? is this unit for sale to a place like home depot or lowes? can some one come by and check out house. How much the installation cost if i let you people do the work?

    • EasyWater August 2, 2011 at 9:31 am · Reply

Hi Ricardo, EasyWater is actually sized based on two factors: the type and size of your plumbing, and the hardness of the water in your home. The size of your home is only a very minor consideration when sizing EasyWater. In order to determine which of our units will be the best fit, just give us a call at 1(877) 708-3338. We’ll ask you several questions before making a recommendation, then go over your warranty options and pricing. Because there are so many things to consider when sizing out a unit we don’t offer EasyWater at hardware stores, but we do have local dealers all over the country. Just give us a call and we’ll put you in touch with a great dealer near you!

I use to have a water / salt system on my house. Worked fine for a year then the cost of maintaining it was to much. I just took it off and threw it away. The system you are using seems to use a coil for a magnetic field. Does this cause clogging the pipes. Will they need to be flushed. I have a lot of iron in my water and have the odor , scaling problem. Will this system help me and what it the cost of maintaining it over the years???

    • EasyWater September 8, 2011 at 4:27 pm · Reply

Hi Vincent, it sounds like EasyWater products will be a great fit for you! The EasyWater No-Salt Conditioner does use a coil, to send electronic frequencies into the water in order to physically change it (instead of chemically changing it, like a traditional salt-type softener will.) The No-Salt Conditioner requires no maintenance at all, and will not cause pipes to clog – in fact, it will remove any limescale that has already built up! You can read more about this here at our blog post about the descaling process. For your iron and odor issues, you’ll see great results with our EasyWater Iron Shield system. Iron Shield does require very minimal maintenance. If you’d like to know more, give us a call at 1(877) 708-3338 and we’ll put you in touch with a great dealer in your area!

I work out of town and am only home 2 days a week. Will the treated water in my hot water heater become untreated after a few days when things settle, and will all the water in my hot water heater have to be cycled through to again get the benefits of treatment ?

    • EasyWater December 20, 2011 at 8:17 am · Reply

Hi Larry, when water is treated with the EasyWater No-Salt Conditioner, the treated quality will last for about 1 week. If you’re consistently home on the same two days every week (say, Saturday and Sunday) you will always have treated water. If the two days per week rotate and you find yourself regularly away from home for a stretch longer than 7 days, you will have to use up the stored water in your water heater and allow it to refill with treated water.

How much does the 3500 no salt unit cost in electricity a year ?

    • EasyWater January 20, 2012 at 3:28 pm · Reply

Hi Janie, the cost to operate the EW3500 will be the same as having a 35-watt lightbulb burning. For most customers this works out to be somewhere around $25 per year, but of course the cost to you will depend on the cost of your electricity.
